Hard work beats talent
This is the 5th sprint (1st week of September 2019) of our digital product design and development journey. Glass octopus is our journal of how we design and develop our digital product, as transparent as we can. We hope our story helps you in your startup journey, and as a message to all digital entrepreneur that you’re not alone in your journey.
Hard work beats talent
We believe that in a world full of geniuses, putting hard work beats lazy talents. That means putting your effort day by day, doing constant and sometimes boring stuff. Our biggest obstacle in designing and developing our product is our impatience (because what is NOT instant nowadays?). Planning and thinking how things would work out is easy, while on the other hand doing daily hands-on is terribly hard. We are teaching ourselves discipline, and to be patient in our startup journey.

After a year handling one of my clients in the part of operation assistance, at the end of August we should say goodbye to them. We closed the project and maybe we can collaborate in other things in the future. So now I'm only handling one client, that makes me have time to focus on RPS projects.
In the last two weeks I've been busy making video course scripts. Preparing all of it so we can start to do the recording part. And yesterday we start our first recording process. It was fun.
We also practicing role play simulation as preparation to visit October's event. Still many things to do and learn. Just keep focus, focus, focus.

I could say that I'm a structural person, especially in terms of schedules. I'm quite difficult to adapt to small changes that come suddenly. Indeed, things like this are impossible to avoid.
The writer who was late in revising the article interfered with my schedule to complete the template. Maybe I should be more flexible and make plans B to Z, to anticipate if things didn't go as planned.
This week we also made our first video for a project that is approaching a deadline. We use economical equipment but good in its results. Creative at its finest!
Hopefully, our efforts and this ups and downs journey will pay off in the end.

I drown myself in preparation and planning, but managed to stop myself from doing all the plan without the action. We did some shooting for our video and we find out that the key to a great video is the lightning and the audio. Having little to no budget for equipments and hiring pros, we learn how to efficiently (even automate!) do audio processing, and do a makeshift three-way lighting and preparing our office for a full production house.
Apart from it, I am abit struggle on building the Digital Presence of RPS. With all content ready as draft, there are steep process I need to go through to ensure each one is up for the standard, because we aim to be mature in our Digital Presence in the long term, and not the short term. The challenges however, lies on managing time. As I divide my time between hands-on and strategy, I am yet to found the perfect balance of time management.
Should I become a creature of fixed schedule, or more into organized-chaos in terms of time management?
